What a joke. *Major-ish Spoilers*

This movie is horrible. Someone clearly wasn't pulling their weight, and it shows through the movie. First of all, the action? Ridiculous. It had the capability to be good, but the fact they sit your eyes on the screen for ten minutes before blowing it up makes it predictable and seem more drawn out than necessary. Everything is also aptly named for those of us who are slow, such as a building being labeled, "EXPLOSIVES!!" in one instance. Hmm, wonder what will happen to that building?

The shooting is atrocious. At point blank range everyone is still missing one another, even when there is no cover. When people do get shot it's a bright orange/red colour. Two particular instances of gun wounds would be one of the death scenes where a main character is shot repeatedly in the chest, and aside from red splotches on him he doesn't appear to be injured at all. He isn't coughing blood, there's no blood running down his chest. I'm not big on gore, but when you take a semi-automatic to the chest and you're still able to sit up and talk there's a problem.

The second instance of poor shooting is the buck(?) near the beginning. They shoot it in the stomach and it drops dead instantly, completely with orange paint ball splotch on its side.

Now then, the plot? A miner getting pulled into a conspiracy with a "maverick ex-spy" in an international game of greed? I'm paraphrasing here, but I'm fairly certain that's close enough to see the glaring difference between the promised and the delivered. Is there a conspiracy? Yes, and they spell it out within the first ten minutes. International? No, not really. And a maverick ex-spy? Try a surfer-wannabe with a gun. You'll be asking yourself just how old this character is supposed to be from the first instant he jumps up and hugs Billy Zane. Then the next couple of times he does it, complete with one instance where he's off the ground, you'll ask yourself just how serious we're supposed to take him.

Clearly he must be a spy though, having been able to fake his own death at point blank range of a rocket launcher. Then he turns into Rambo, and lives long enough to spell out the twist we already saw coming.

Honestly, Robert Downey's part is so small it'd be better not to have mentioned him on the case at all. (It would have saved me money from watching this thing as well.)

But that isn't the only issue. Besides the plot and action flopping, you have the characters. They all come across as 2D cutouts, adhering perfectly to their designated role. Hot lady falls in love with him, has conscience, and needs a lot of rescuing. Bad guy is evil with no redeeming qualities and is solely driven by evil intentions. Billy Zane's character tries hard to be an anti-hero, but he is so nice and kind he just comes across as a laugh (saving that one worker in the beginning, for instance. He intended to take him... where?)

For those characters who do not have one of the predetermined set types, they live long enough to reveal the important information they hold then die. Robert Downey Jr.'s character is an excellent example of this; not two seconds after he has revealed the truth the bad guy shows up and kills him. Convenient. Then the "agent" who sent them is revealed as a bad guy. He reveals himself to be working with the villain then is promptly shot. Or so we assume by the sound effects, for we never actually see any blood and his white suit remains perfectly unmarred.

I could continue this list, but I think I've summed up my opinion enough. Unless you're a die hard Billy Zane fan, this movie just isn't worth it. Maybe they intended it for dead-drunk viewers, but I'm sure even they would catch on to the lame "twists".
