WHO WAS A BETTER COACH

I kinda think Orion was better than cause he kept them from giving up so many goals and play defence, and he also came up with Goldberg being a Defenseman instead of a crappy goalie, Bombay only played Julie once, But Bombay had a great imagination. I think if they make another ducks movie they should coach together it would be cool. But tell who do u think was a better coach, BOMBAY or ORION

reply

Orion. With the Julie situation, I thought Bombay was so biased towards his old player that he failed to notice that Julie was a far superior goalie.

I think Orion was better as a high school hockey coach but if Bombay had done it instead of Orion, he would not have done as good a job because Bombay did not have the kind of experience Orion did. But Bombay was a good starting coach.

The reason the ducks and Orion did not connect as well during their first meeting was because the ducks were not used to change. But they were evenutally able to bond with Orion just like they were able to bond with Bombay when he became their originial coach. I bet that if Orion had been their original coach in the first movie instead of Bombay, the ducks would have easily bonded with Orion because they would have had a coach who had real experience and admiration for the sport and could quickly show them how to play for fun and pride. Because don't forget, Bombay did not like hockey ever since he blew the penalty shot in his youth as a peewee player for the Hawks. The ducks did not like Bombay's attitude about playing until he showed them how to have fun. Also, Bombay was bitter about having to coach peewee hockey until Hans had reminded him about how much he loved the sport and only quit because Coach Reilly had brainwashed him into thinking nothing matters if you don't always win; and instead playing hockey is about having fun, not winning.

Orion is already an experienced hockey coach. Bombay became a coach that taught the ducks how to play as a team. he taught them how to stick together and encouraged them as he played. Bombay would have them learn from each other. Orion is superior because he pushed defense. Orion knew what he was doing. He was giving them the right experience if they ever attempted to play in college or the pros.

I think Orion is the best character from all three of the films, and yeah i think he was the better coach too.

Bombay was a kiddie coach teaching them to play as a team. He never had the skill to coach a real team like Orion. Orion knew that the only way for a team to be winners, was to be a hardass.

reply

Bombay was more of a one trick pony; unconventional methods and a great motivator and players coach.

But Orion clearly knew more about hockey- no silly flying V's or ridiculous plays or silly practices involving eggs or beach balls. He was hard nosed and ran a tight ship but you needed to earn what you'd get from him; Charlie and Goldberg learned this the hard way.

reply

bombay was better. orion was like my youngest sisters soccer coach from elementary school. sat there and didn't teach anything. didn't call any plays nothing. bombay all he did was teach and call plays out. bombay knew what he was doing. he was showing them how to win those games like whats that guys name that coached the redwings, canadiens, and all those other teams. he retired in 2002 after coaching the redwings.

Bombay was the better coach. He took a bunch of kids, some with talent and some without, and made them a GREAT team by developing their skillset to help them grow as players. Granted, he did slack off sometimes because of other commitments/interest but overall he knew how to motivate them, get the most out of them and use them effeectively (maybe not Goldberg). He also helped Charlie grow as the leader of the team. In the first, Charlie is hardly respected because he's horrible player, but in the 2nd they are trusting his decisions as an assistant coach.

Orion basically threw out everything in their skillset, everything that got them so far, and made them champions (I'm assuming additional wins between D2 and D3), and changed their structure. Of course they were going to fail in the beginning.

Bombay

Orion was probably the one decent character in this whole movie and yes he was a better coach than Bombay. Bombay may have been a good Pee-Wee coach, he was good at getting kids to like Hockey but Orion had the experience, the expertise and was the better coach for upper level teams.

Orion, it was clear that Bombay only knew how to coach pee wee hockey. I mean these players are in 9th grade and are around 14 which is around junior hockey leagues which the NHL mostly drafts from start looking at players and don't know how to play 2 way hockey?! That's just ludicrous!
