Why would the school switch their teams name to a duck cause of a group of kids who only been around for a few months. The warrior hockey has a legacy and 10 straight titles..It just doesn't make sense.
Because of the bet. After the board meeting when Riley is harassing them he tells the Ducks that after they get beat in the showdown that maybe they'd leave on their own being the honorable thing to do. Then Russ says "when we beat you, the Warriors die and the Ducks fly." Riley replies "whatever you say loser". Plus with Linda's petition perhaps the board saw fit to change it.

shareJust cause some freshman girl had been moving to change the name doesn't mean they would have done it. People have been trying to get Indian names off of teams for years from everything from high schools to pro teams and it hasn't happened yet. No way is the alumni going to listen to a petition from a girl unless she's one of those legacies whose parents donate a boatload of money a year and change the name because of her.

If the Redskins name hasn't been changed then why would you think a even LESS "offensive" name would have been changed?
