About the ammo situation; can't believe no one has mentioned this...

Both the SAW and the M-16 use the same kind of ammunition. Monfriez had like 4 boxes of ammo; all they had to do was break up one of those ammo belts (not a big deal) and they could have had 6 full magazines for the M-16. Any soldier would (or at least should) know this. There was no reason for them to be worrying about the M-16 running out of ammo. Freaking Hollywood.

Nobody was worried about the M-16 running out of ammo. Serling kept bugging them about the M-16 ammo because that was a major flaw in their retelling of the events. The other crew heard an M-16 which meant someone (Walden) was firing it when Monfriez claimed they were out of ammo.
