Monfriez

I loved Lou in this role. I think he out shined Denzel in their parts together.

Yes, he was a good soldier!

I like to see em both again.

Here's hoping you meant "Phillips portrayed a soldier well" and not "Monfriez was a good soldier." Night and day, you know. lol

reply

Apples and oranges I guess, I was actually wondering if this movie somewhat ended his career since I think he's really not good in it. And I can't imagine how someone would consider him better than DW in any way, so I guess different strokes.

I believe Monfriez was a good soldier..

Monfriez's action during the film clearly show him to NOT be a good soldier. However good a soldier he once was, that went out the window once he committed mutiny and tried to get others to join him.

LOL, he didn't outshine Denzel but they were at their best in this movie, I'd love to see again in another movie together, though.

Capt. Walden should have placed him under immediate arrest and shoot any soldier that resisted the order or shot Monfriez when danger from him was imminent. It is within a senior legal rights to shoot any soldier that mutinied in a battlefield.

Monfriez was all muscles but no balls. He was a disgrace and his family will have to live with the stigma that one of their own died a coward.

Of cour outshined Denzel. When Denzel is walking around in his auto-pilot,stoic,dignified,seen-it-76-times way,not anyone can outshine him,you need charisma. But rewatching the film last night,no doubt. the script works against Phillips,a few lines of dialog or just a few more screenminutes make him so much more complex but he still owned it.

Why after this and his hilarrious, classic Cisco in not so good but very enjoyable cause of him,The Big Hit,his career just didn´t take a dive,it committed suicide and we got Paul Walker,Bloom and other actors like that in big roles...it´s a cruel world.
