Eff This Movie!

Too many of these military movies go out of their way to make Officers look superior over NCO's. I don't mean superior by rank (already a given), but by ability, conviction, and troop leading procedures and other stuff. Making Monfriez look like a coward, uncoachable, only looking out for himself, was total BS. This Capt. Walden didn't handle that situation any better than he did.

She did two things you NEVER do to a Soldier. The worst of those two actions was to point HER weapon at him. And then, to demand HIS weapon. B*tch, please! I"m not giving you my weapon!!! We're cornered AND being fired upon. Handing you my weapon LESSENS our chances of survival. Her assertion of authority was misplaced. That was NOT the time to disarm a Solider, nor tell him that you're going to court martial him. Oh, gee. What do you THINK he's going to be thinking about for the next few hours? Do you think he thinks your survival is in HIS best interests? You just made an 'enemy' out of that Soldier, when you, Captain, should've been deescalating any talks of mutiny. Even if he was toeing the line of such actions, you reel him back in, on the right side.

"Night Train" deserved better.

When we're thinking about our own brain, would that be a mental paradox??

Sorry to respond after 5 years. However she was right. He, Monfriez, had already indicated he was getting away, so stating threatening to take his weapon would lessen their chances of survival is NOT an intelligent argument. He wanted to get away was lessening their chance of survival by taking one man and one weapon from the team.

I do not know how I would have handled that situation as I never served.
