Rate this movie 1-100

I would give it a 90, but I was wondering what other people thought.

i would give it a 92, it was a pretty good movie, very good performances, and i really liked it

I also give it a 90. Pacino was on fire in this.

reply

I'd say a 95. Excellent performances by all, and a good script. The ending was a little "off" but it was still a great, underrated film.

Julie, did I ever tell you about my Uncle Henry Kotter?

good movie with great acting but it still lacked something for me

65/100

reply

70, the end was so anticlimactic that I didn't even know the movie was over until the credits came on.

reply

it is just like rating 1 - 10... i'd give it 85, because pacino was splendid!

reply

55/100
Pacino excellent of course but a cumbersone script and unfocused direction brings the film down.

reply

I agree. Moreover, I dislike the soundtrack, I think it could have been better.

I just saw it for the first time and that's how I feel about it also. I gave it a 5/10 on IMDb but I'd say 55/100 as well. Pacino was fantastic as he (almost) always is, and most of the supporting actors were great as well, but the plot felt too loose and hard to follow. I was really trying to focus in on the whole narrative but it was fast becoming a chore and after about an hour or so I was finding it hard to care anymore. I don't know how better to explain it, just that I think they could have used a rewrite or something, or maybe the editing was just bad and scenes got chopped up, who knows. Again, Pacino was excellent but his presence wasn't enough to save a boring movie for me.

like a 94. I loved Cusack's character, Pacino was INCREDIBLE.
I liked the story too, and the dialogue. All in all, i loved the movie, i thought it was great.

50. i found this movie to be very stale...who doesn't already assume politicians and mobsters are in cahoots? it really wasn't THAT big of an issue for a movie plot. occasionally i'll catch that a-hole O'Reilly on tv and he'll have a segment about a judge that went exceeding light on someone and he'll rip on them...then that's it...on to the next story. the same would happen in this situation.

i also felt like a lot of the scenes with Pacino were forced...like they were meant to be 'Oscar Moments'...didn't really come off as natural to me.

this director, Becker, has milked the success of Taps into a series of mediocre movies.

78 out of 100

Thought the acting across the board was tremendous. Only had a problem with the Bridget Fonda character - all that little subplot did was to pull you away from the interesting stuff.
