What does a cop having 40 grand prove? That he was on the take? That he was dirty? Maybe he inherited it. Maybe it's life insurance money. Maybe he was lucky at the track. Maybe he was a prodigious saver and investor.

To use the lingo of the movie, 40 grand is bupkus.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

I was thinking the same thing. 40 grand is not a lot of money these days.

These days perhaps not. 20 years ago, more so.
