In the depression-era set Rambling Rose for which Laura Dern got an Oscar nod, at the end of the movie Robert Duvall and a doctor conspire to secretly sterilize her character while she is in the hospital, claiming they consider her too be a nyphomaniac. Diane Ladd's character come to her defense fortunately and Duvall recognizes the insanity of his actions, saying, "It would be bad for any young woman." I agree.
