She was so annoying

I AGREE! And that's what makes her such a great actress; she's annoying as all get out, and all one can think watching this movie is why would we fight for a character like hers to to breed more? I used to help my then boyfriend take care of his dad's places in the Ca desert area. The dad was proud of his places and took good care of them. The methheads would move in looking good, pay that first month, then go down to Indio and sell all their vouchers for drug money, thus depriving their children, while encouraging little ones to go out and look for likely looking unlocked cars, etc.

When his dad would finally really have to press for the money, he became the enemy. And his places paid the price. I should have taken pictures of the human waste, scratched walls, stripped wires, missing doors...and the animals left behind.

I understand wanting to escape when you're broke and you can't figure out how to get out of it. I understand wanting to live in escape land. But then you don't have children, or more.

Laura Dern is brilliant in not knowing what she wants, halfway knowing she could have gone down different roads, and displaying what happens when a child has a parent who looks the other way, knowingly or not.
