Hey Aztec_Camera. This is a great performance, and like others in this thread, I believe she's one of our best actors. I assume you feel the same. You mention that you feel:

I can understand that opinion. It is fearless. However, have you seen
Inland Empire? In my opinion, as great as Dern is in
Citizen Ruth, nearly nothing compares to what she does in
Inland Empire. it's one of the great screen performances in the history of cinema. It's up there w/ anything: Penn in
Hurlyburly, Keitel in
Bad Lieutenant, Liz Taylor in
Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf, doesn't matter. Dern in
Inland Empire is unsurpassed.
However, let me warn anyone who hasn't seen it: it is epically horrifying, brutal, disturbing, and brilliant. Truly engaging in this film takes a lot of personal will and energy, and it
will kick your *beep* ass. Proceed with caution.
