At 32 and 26 weren't Reeves and Weisz a little old?

I loved the film and the romance but the two stars seemed to be playing it as if they were college freshmen, younger than their real-life selves or even their characters

they were graduate students, so they were actually the appropriate age.

They didn't gel for me. But it was stated they were of the same age in the film.

No, they were supposed to be graduate students. Weisz is a highly educated and talented physicist and Reeves is a kind of misfit machinist. They are supposed to be in their mid 20s, early 30s which would be very appropriate.
