The first showing on Channel 4.

I remember when Channel 4 were due to give the film its first showing on terrestrial TV. I couldn't believe it when I saw the scheduled time, it was something like 2.30am!!! I'd seen the film at the London Film Festival so I knew that it was superb. Also, I knew that Channel 4 were one of the Production Companies behind the making of the film. Why on earth were they hiding it away like that? Anyway, I made sure to set my video timer.
When I played the tape the next day, the announcer said that the film has been postponed to a later date. I think I'm right in saying that, when it was eventually shown, it was in a 10.00 slot.
My guess is that, when Loach, Laverty and Hibbin found out that the film was going to be shown at such a late time, they bum-rushed Channel 4 and, as one, screamed: "WTF is going on???" and Channel 4, upon moving their head from their posterior, realised that they weren't doing right by one of their own and agreed to premier "Carla's Song" at a much more sensible time of day.
