shareJust caught this kack in Paris on its Arte (Art) channel. I have no idea what the hell they were trying to convey when they made this piece of dross, because it works on no level at all. If it is meant to be erotic then a Garfield strip would be better. If you're meant to think about the porn industry and it's effects then the Annabel Chong story is far better in both production values and in making you realise what a dirt bag industry it is. And if, by some stretch of the imagination it is meant to be possibly a thriller, then Teletubbies has the edge. It looks and plays like a really *beep* soft core porno, it caters for no one. It looks like it was shot in the early 80's, and perhaps that's what the director was aiming for. In which case, well done. But it doesn't take away from the fact that it poorly acted(no surprise as most of the actors are actual porn stars), poorly scripted and shoddly shot. Bear in mind that Pulp Fiction came out a year before and did the tough guy dialouge a hell of a lot better, and you'll understand why this is the equivalent of an enema. Should only be watched by people who don't want to make *beep* movies. Hence possibly why the director has only made two movies since (both shorts).
shareThere was a huge kerfuffle in Canada a number of years ago when conservatives and some feminists found out that government funding (a small amount at that) went into the making of this movie. The conservatives and feminists thought that government funding shouldn't go to hard core pornography. Of course, nobody had seen the movie when the controversy arose. Obviously, this movie isn't hard core porn and it is really bad. The conservatives and those few feminists made much ado about nothing.
shareWasn't this movie made by feminists?
