Question about woman Pam helps??

There is a scene where Pam sees a woman she tried to help get shot by her (husband? boyfriend?).
The cops nab him and help her.

There is a scene later where Pam is begging a woman not to go back, because he will kill her. I missed some of the film.
Is this the same woman that got shot? If so, how the heck was he not in prison???!!!
Never mind what kind of woman would go back to a man who SHOT and tried to kill her??!!

don't know if this will be responded to but... yes the woman is the same woman who gets shot. And this can be typicl of batered wife syndrom... (I am not an expert just what I hear/know) they the person taking the abuse still think they love the person who abuses them.

I cannot believe someone would go back to someone who shot them!!!!

I've researched the BWS for classes and I even admit to putting up with a man who hit me once (I forgave him once, but when he tried it again he was HISTORY!), and he tried to get back together with me....forget it.

I'll never understand women who put up with that and much worse, for time after time.
