What is your favorite scene in the movie?

My favorite scene is when Al goes to the hotel and asks the frontdesk clerk about a "Splashy" lake. The clerk informs him that he hasn't ever heard of a "Splashy" lake, but has heard of a "Splatchee" lake, s-p-l-a-t-c-h-double ee. "There are lots of amusements. Me and my brother drowned a cat there once."

Friggin amazing scene. I remember from watching the DVD commentary that the actor playing this clerk FREAKED THE HELL OUT OF JOHN TURTURRO! John Turturro couldn't wait to get out of filming the scene because he was so intimidated by the actor. If you watch the scene, you can definitely understand why. The clerk seems sooooo much more confident (i seriously wonder why - because John Turturro is an accomplished Hollywood actor).

However, please watch the scene and tell me what you think.

The first morning Al wakes up in the Kid's camp, and doesn't even blink when the Kid serves him a big-ass bowl of Hydrox cookies with milk poured over them, for breakfast.....

Or the scene where they first go swimming; then have a tomato fight in the field and thwart the cops....such a cute scene

One of my favorite scenes happens when AL looks out of his doorway at the motel.
He is looking to see who dropped off the phone sex calling card. All he see's is the old man & lady snoozing. The television heard in the background drones " Jesus is strong but he needs your help"

Also the the lounge chair on fire in the lot over grown with weeds is great.
It kind of sets the tone for the remainder of the movie. Very symbolic.

I hope people only read the previous post after having seen the movie otherwise the ending will have been completely spoiled for them.

the fight at the bar

I'm between two moments which are related: At the café, when the waitress talks about the shower, and then when Al's brushing his teeth talking to himself about it.

The dance around the campfire! I especially love it when Floatie strikes the surfer girl pose. I've had a crush on Catherine Keener ever since the first time I saw it :)

Easily my favorite scene is when Al Fountain is behind the kid in the old Ford Galaxy, Al decides to CLOSE HIS EYES and take in the moment. (With a plastic deer riding shotgun.)

Also like when Al is brushing his teeth talking to himself about the waitress and the "hot water". Lol!

Bowl of Hydrox with milk makes me hungry everytime.

Mine would have to be when Doris delivers the car keys. Can't say enough about Doris; her part was hilarious!

Yes, I loved the scene when Doris delivers the car keys also! You knew it was coming, and it couldn't have been better. The Kid greets her in the nude, thinking she wants to buy a gnome or something!

The shootout at the power plant was very powerful as well. In fact, every scene in this film worked, whether for humor or drama. Talk about an imaginative delight!

I laughed my ass off with the key delivery scene... "I'm letting that go for 25 bucks!"

I also really liked the scene when Al is asking for new keys and then sees The Kid talking to himself or something in the car, looking really sad, and decides not to take the keys.

Like others said...The complete scene when Doris delivers the spare car keys...especially when Kid mistook her for a browser, lol

I thought that was Lloyd Bridges.
