DVD?
i love this movie
is the dvd worth getting?
thanks
If you "love" the movie that is a silly question...I just picked it up 2 days ago after only seeing the last half on IFC and have only watched the movie, not with commentary or other features on, and I love it...If you can take it for what it's worth, pick it up. Good stuff....

i just meant i have the movie on tape and was wondering what "extra" comes with the dvd-sometimes the dvd is JUST the movie and maybe a trailer-ya know?
but thanks for the reply
- i'll get it asap :)
I picked up the DVD last year but had the video long before then. The DVD was a MUST for me because of the vital Director's Commentary. If that's not enough for you, read the book "Notes From Overboard" about the shooting. It's a golden read.
As always, Rest in a Peaceful Slumber Jim Varney!

I somehow heard about this movie and found a copy at the local library. It shows how the dvd market has changed in ten years. The box touts "Digitally Mastered" as if to distinguish it from analog dvds! Also "Interactive Menus"! What use would a menu be that didn't interact? It also says there is a trailer. There wasn't. And it neglects to even mention the directors' commentary! The disc itself resembles the old two sided affairs that had a cropped version on one side and the widescreen version on the other with no actual label. But only one side has video, the other has nothing. Last, the menu didn't work using Nero or Splayer. In fact I had to look again to see if somebody had swapped the original for a homemade copy. But the printed inner ring sure looked correct so I assume when this was manufactured proper authoring sometimes eluded the makers. None of this detracts from the value of the film itself, I just find it interesting that dvds were so primitive only a decade ago.

And one thread I was particularly fond of was on the Last Samurai board. It was titled "As a real-life samurai this movie insulted me". It was the funniest thing I've read online.
