Are all fireworks illegal in America?

Is it true, or was it made up for the film? For a country with such lax gun laws I am surprised to hear this.

If it's a boy, do you think it will look like Rodney? It doesn't matter as long as it's healthy!

Funny enough, I am from Knoxville where the motion picture was filmed and fireworks are legal in Knox County but not within Knoxville city limits. I think it is that way in most counties in Tennessee at least. Keep the fireworks on the farms and you'll be fine.

reply

It's not a federal law. There can however be a city or county prohibition against them. These are usually put in place because of accidents that take place during July 4th and New Years Eve.

fireworks laws vary from state to state and county to county; in some parts of the country they are heavily regulated or even completely illegal; in other places there are almost no laws covering their use at all.

its also a bad assumption to say that the US has "lax gun laws" as this too is an over simplification. it is up to each state to decide its own laws and regulations and some are much more strict than others.

what most people outside the US dont realize is that states here are governing bodys that decide their own laws. many laws that are regulated at a national level in a smaller country are regulated by individual state laws here instead.

reply

Compared to anywhere in the world that isn't a third world country....yes, the USA has lax gun laws.

What a suprise that the anti-semite would be in know concerning explosives.

You, Mr Neville, are the refuse of the past. You are discarded!

reply

Illegal in New Jersey, but coming North out of Virginia there's one fireworks store after another just before you leave the state.

reply

Depends on the county in Texas and if a burn ban is in effect. Usually outside city limits is ok.

reply

No, it depends on where you live and what type of fireworks.
I noticed Al lived in Chicago (although it was filmed elsewhere) but I don't know the laws there.
For years only smoke bombs were allowed where I live (for personal use, because of fire danger), but now the kind with fountains of sparks are allowed.

Maybe Al was just telling Bob they were illegal because he was so uptight?
