Um, those were Roman candles, not bottle rockets

Why was this movie named Bottle Rocket? When Dignan was firing those fireworks out of the car, those were Roman candles.

Bottle rockets require you to be stationary. They're like a little firework on a stick. You put the stick into a bottle - in the old days, it was a glass Coke bottle - and when you fire it off, it shoots up in the sky . . . or possibly right at your friend.

So why was the movie names Bottle Rocket when it specifically didn't have any, especially when it had a chance to have one?

It looked like there might have been a bottle rocket or two fired at some point or at least purchased, perhaps. But yeah, the thing Dignan is holding in the field when Anthony and Inez come out to talk to him is definitely a roman candle.

Actually, we used to drive around and throw lit bottle rockets from moving cars. Pretty stupid, to be sure, but hey, we were young.

And then again, the little devils may just go for it. Here, Frankie, Patsy, Johnny, Kelly, hand these out in lieu of pay.

I didn't get a harrumph out of that guy!
