Character development may be absent however the characters are excellent. Dignan/Owen Wilson is perfect as a guy who is always dreaming big, coming up with as elaborate plans as he can muster with scant resources, then having them fail in humorous ways.

I take the film's plot centering around the robbery as a metaphor for indie filmmaking itself.

Character development: Plenty. Anthony alone is proof.
Plot: Heists.
Humor: Hilarious
Charm: Exceedingly

Just watched it for the first time. Couldn't disagree more with you, it sucked. NOT! It was actually really good, and as you put it, charming.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
