The movie was very good. The subtlety of the humor is just awesome. But is this Dignan character dumb, innocent or mentally ill? Because he makes good plans but every time, they fail in the most funny way. There is got to be some reason for that.

He's just a bit off if ya get my meaning, I wouldn't say he's dumb necessarily but he's certainly a bit of a cock blocker. Lol.
I wouldn't use that term, yet he does seem to live life as if through a 3rd grader's fantasy mind's eye - big plans, nothing to stop him, etc. If we visited him at his landscaping gig, I'm sure he'd be able to hold down a proper conversation & he does a good job.
