I thouroughly enjoyed this wonderful film! But,...

This is from the 'is it just me?' department? Now, 'Doggie' rescued the Boy (& herself)from the kiddnappers/slave traders. Yet, it doesn't phase anyone much less, motivate them to go get the bad guys.

Just a casual observation. Anyone else catch this?

I think the police were just being lazy. They didn't want to bother with an actual investigation, they just saw an excuse to quickly claim that they had "solved the case" and then it wouldn't be their problem anymore.

the boy was able to speak, he could have said something also == but I loved the movie, and bawled my eyes out!

a little difference made in the life of one can be the big difference made in the world

It's a cultural / social issue that is one of the main points of the story, the police / military are hardly out to actually do anything for anyone. We see them taking in street performances, operas, bullying locals, showing off their status, and belittling other professions. They only act when a child from a wealthy family goes missing, and their only 'investigation' is finding the first person he's with and torturing him until he admits to the crime.

I hate the term 'bad' used here. The reality is that these slave traders are possibly helping out a bunch of homeless children with no other options and that it's basically an open and accepted market. The police and citizens are allowing it to happen, which makes them equally as 'bad'. It's really all just human nature and everyone trying to get by in whatever ways they know how. In a corrupt society, how much blame can you put on someone who is just taking advantage?
