been sick

After meeting at the library Lisa and Lewis walk where she asks if he attends Storytime often. Lewis replies no because he's been sick. Indeed he might have been not feeling well enough to attend but this seems like such an out of the blue comment I want to associate it somewhere but can't. He possibly might still be feeling bad from the loss of his wife thus losing interest in life so I have to wonder if the answer lies in yet another cut scene?
