Wow, Christian CAN do sappy roles without psychotic undertones...

I've seen both of our good friend Mr. Slater's romantically oriented roles, Untamed Heart, and of course, Bed of Roses. I loved them both, of course, but found Bed of Roses more enjoyable. Perhaps because it was lighter, and Christian was so damn cute with the glasses...lol. But I kept expecting him to turn around a corner and snort a knifeful of coke, or become some other form of a psycho, probably because this is his forte. It was a nice change to see him in Bed of Roses as the perfectly adorable "normal" guy, ever so slightly nerdy, with barely any skeletons in his closet.

That's not to say that his psycho-rebelness, a la Heathers isn't sexy as sin...
Our love is God...let's go get a slushie.

I agree, I LOVE this movie. It's one of my favorite romantic movies. I just remember seeing it in the theater, and the final scene, where she goes to see him, just got to me big time. It was like when you watch a movie, and there's conflict between the characters, you just want them to run to each other and squeeze. But it seems that never happens the way I'd want. So that's why this movie got to me so much-- that final scene was so powerful because what happened was exactly what I wanted to happen, and even better. Great scene. The soundtrack is awesome too.

But he was kind of psycho in this movie. The whole sending he flowers and waiting under her window was kind of psychotic...and even sending her flowers every hour on the hour. But, I've always like Christian Slater and this movie was a good role for him.

when i started watching this movie it was about probably half an hour into it already, i seriously thought he was a stalker or something. just cause, to me, christian slater just looks like a psycho, he can't help but look creepy. his face, is creepy.

i was freaked out by him in this movie, i think this is where my hatred of him and his movies began, i can't see anything else but a creepy psycho when i look at him

"There's unlimited juice? This party is gonna be off the hook!"

He wasnt "pyschotic" in Pump up the volume mind you its not exactly a sappy role..same for broken arrow..still somehow the pyschotic roles he plays in Heathers and True Romance and very sexy...and strange to think that but yea..

Really?

Compared to Untamed Heart I think that the character in this flick is kind of psycho a little.

I mean the dude is a full grown man who hangs out at the library around little kids listening to stories read aloud! That is just plain weird and if some dude did that in real life some moms would call the cops after the psycho stalker/ loiterer.

Hopefully after Lewis continues with his relationship with Lisa they can stop that bad habit!

I would think it's creepy without knowing the storyline, but I think the kids and the story time are to fill the void of losing his family that he never had the chance to find and until he meets Lisa and realizes that maybe he still has a chance at the life he lost and can fall in love again. I love Christian Slater anyway, but this is one of my favorite characters that he plays just because he's so vulnerable and different than you would expect him to be. I only watched this movie for the first time a year or two ago, and I've probably watched it at least a half a dozen times since. I just love it. :)
