This one of the strongest performances by a child actor I've ever seen. I know a film like this would never get Ocsar attention, but her performance is far better than any other child actor that's ever been nominated for an Oscar.

I think it was because it aired on TV before its theatrical release. Its such a shame, Jena Malone was absolutely excellent. The Oscars should change their rules slightly to allow any film with a theatrical release to be eligible. Jena Malone should have been nominated for this, and Linda Fiorentino should have won for The Last Seduction (which was also ineligible because it aired on TV first).

Quite so. It was a hard film to watch, but Jena Malone was fantastic. She was (and presumably is) a great actress.

To be honest I think most people find this all either extremely annoying or extremely entertaining....

I would be pissed if I mad a on topic thread and it turned into another feud. It all seems so pointless.

Anyways, this is a fantastic movie and Jena did an amazing job, but the ending always pissed me off...couldn't believe how horrible and weak Jennifer Jason Leigh's character was...

I always wondered why Ms. Malone never became 'big', I know she still acts but they was a great performance, and I thought she'd get more attention for it. I know she got "Stepmom" because of it, but...but other than that she hasn't got any 'big' roles. I guess she prefers to stay with indie films, I've seen her in a lot of those. She also comes across as extremely pretentious and annoying in her adult interviews.

Jena is a good actress in everything, but she was ESPECIALLY great in everything from Saved! backwards. I thought she was great in this, hidden in America, the book of stars, life as a house, Donnie darko, American girl, and saved, off the top of my head.

Surprised she wasn't nominated for an Emmy or Oscar. Definitely one of the best child acting, especially in the United States.
