Pollock, Frida, Surviving Picasso, Artemisia, Camille Claudel (sculptor), Goya en Burdeos.....Just to name a few.

Pollock is the most accurate of the bunch.

The is also "The Agony and the Ecstacy" about Michaelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel.

"Vincent and Theo" is a good one too. It's about the last days of Van Gogh. Tim Roth is phenomenal.

Love Is the Devil, about painter Francis Bacon. Beautiful and disturbing film about his life.

'I Shot Andy Warhol' is mainly about the lesbian writer Valerie Solanas (Lili Taylor), but Andy Warhol (Jared Harris) and the factory scene are featured heavily.
I rate this as the best film about art I've seen.

Don't forget "Modigliani" with Andy Garcia either.

How I fight is why I'm feeling sore.

"Paradise Found", Kiefer Sutherland portrays the life story of painter Paul Gauguin.

One of my favourit movie is 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' that tells Johannes Vermeer`s story.
Swedish 'Picasso' is a kitch, grotesque view on titan of painting Picasso.
Or as an alternativ 'Surviving Picasso' with Anthony Hopkins as the great artist :o)

I forgot about Girl with a Pearl Earring! Yes it is excellent. More recently I really liked Mr. Turner.

reply

I just saw them both recently and I agree!

"I Shot Andy Warhol" is a wonderful recommendation even though it's about Valerie Solanas. "Mr. Turner" also a great, great movie. My favorite of all artist biopics is Robert Altman's "Vincent and Theo."
