a wonderful movie!

Hopkins is absolute as usual. I did not know he was also the director. It captures well the emotions and the complexity of human being. Gawn Grainger as the doctor and all actors play it well. Kate Burton as Helen Blathwaite is not convincent as the muse and love fantasy of all the males... This is the only weakness of the movie, unfortunately as she plays a central role it causes a great damage.

Your theory may be on target. She did seem a less than vibrant figure for all the men to orbit but, out in a thinly populated country setting, she would be the tip of an, albeit short, pyramid.

I don't know if this was intentional in the casting. But, it does show that the storms in men's hearts only needs a little bit of external inspiration.

PS I was shocked to see this had only 5 and a fraction of IMDB stars. I feel it is worthy of more than this. There are films, not as good, with seven....

Look at the three men, her husband, the doctor, and Hopkin's character. Now look at her again. Yep, she's pretty much the hot babe in that crowd.
