I agree OP. Sheen was one of my favorite actors of the late 80s-early 90s.

Your right. He played this so straight, without ad libbing or comic relief. His character was very natural and he acted like most of us probably would in such a circimstance. He actually made a great scifi film. I wish he had done more serious ones like this.
