La dolce vita reference?

I saw this movie a few times over the years and i enjoy it every time. the last time was a few days ago and the airport scene in the beginning when Max and Muriel are saying goodbye and they can't hear each other because of the glass between them, it reminded me of the final scene of le dolce vita when Marcello and the young girl try to talk but he never hear what she's asking him and walks away.

Another scene that might be a reference to la dolce vita is when Max return to the appartment the last time (after watching the play) and he starts throwing feathers out of a pillow, Marcello also did something similar (not exactly the same but similar enough) in the party scene.

The hitchcockian connection is discussed through out the web, this is a more subtle one, do you think i'm right?
