I don't know where to get a copy of the movie, but since this is the most recent post, perhaps you will check back, and be able to help me with my question. I'm searching for a movie I saw on Lifetime, and I'm fairly certain this is the one. I saw it a long time ago, and vaguely remember what happened. Is this the movie where the boy kills himself right in the very beginning, and I think the parents wind up getting divorced because they can't cope, and the father (who was a psychiatrist) winds up giving a guest-lecture at a college, and gets roped into helping out another depressed teen, and starts to feel very fatherly toward the young boy? It was a really intriguing movie, whatever it was, and I'm not so sure that About Jimmy is the one I'm looking for. If you check back, please let me know if you happen to know if this is the movie. Thanks!

The movie to which you are referring is not "After Jimmy". Jimmy's father is not a psychiatrist in this movie, and he doesn't develop a relationship with another boy. Also, the parents do not divorce. They do separate temporarily, until the mother comes to terms with the fact that she needs counseling herself, and needs to deal with her and her family's grief.

This was a touching movie. I think the writers did an excellent job in pointing out many of the repercussions of one's suicide, and the actors did a great job in portraying the different emotions and struggles that families go through after a loved one kills himself.

I had a classmate who killed himself. He was married, but having some marital problems. He left behind a young daughter and an unborn child. The whole scene was so tragic. I have heard it said many times that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary situation. I hope this movie encourages someone who has considered suicide.
