Anyone seen the longer version?

I think i'm among the few people who actually likes Adrenalin: Fear the Rush. Obviously it is a bad movie, but its production values are decent. I enjoy the atmosphere and the breakneck pace, sure the monster is laughable - but the film seems like an expierment seeing if it can pull a non-stop chase and keeping the audience thrilled. Either A) you were thrilled B) you were bored to death C) you were thrilled and upon second viewing you laugh your arse off.

has anyone seen the longer version of Adrenalin? I remember seeing 3/4's of it on UPN and it was twenty minutes longer, I was wondering if anyone remembers details from it or has a copy.

I haven't heard of this movie having a longer version.

Could it have seemed longer because of the commercials?

This movie has that gritty atmosphere, even if it's bad, as you say - I've seen it once back in 2000, never again.. but it was pretty damn freaky.

You're not alone. I actually consider it a low-budget cool thriller. About the longer version, I once found a VHS in very bad state at $2 and I couldn't resist buying it. The version released in my country (Argentina) lasts 94 minutes. I don't know what's in the "short" version, but there's nothing that seems out of place in this one... I resold it at $1 because the image quality was awful.

reply

hey, I liked this 1, its not bad for a movie thats 77 minutes long!

Dare, I say this is a cult classic? 8-D

That longer version will be released in Germany/France/(probably UK) at the beginning of July ('05). It is announced with approx. 97 Minutes (in PAL). It has a longer introduction and has some more story/dialouge elements.

reply

There is a complete uncut release in Germany. It is - for example - listet at amazon.de as "Ultimate Chase". approx. 93 minutes running time.

Have fun! Best version: good picture and sound, complete introduction and complete first scene.

I remember seeing this movie back in 1999, & I really enjoyed it. I remembered about it after seeing The Descent.

Wow. In our country - the channel UPN ran it, once... I wished they would run the film again - some of the footage was rather interesting. You're lucky to get the dvd in your country! I don't think we are going to get another dvd release over here. I think in America we are stuck with the 77 minute version.

hbo showed it a bunch of times at like 300 am for a while the 93 mintue version
i thought it was a zombie type movie

reply

It is a zombie type movie.
It turns the viewer into one.

There's a long version of THIS film? I couldn't stand the actually version. Unbearable and too boring!!!

Anyone realize how many times Lambert gets shot, stabbed, spiked and molested in this movie? The zombie is an agile guy with a knife who even shoots guns. Haha!

I'm surprised I never responded to my own thread years after I got the PAL dvd edition which ran over 90 minutes... Yes, the story is expanded in the film. Makes a little more sense. Keyword being here 'little'. There's some interesting footage that tries to show the carrier's lair where he resides, in which, I presume he sits in when he isn't eating people? This version also has a much longer opening. I'm beginning to think the theory about Adrenalin: Fear the Rush being an experiment to be rather plausible. Footage is obviously cut here and there for pacing. I do want to say one shot of Lambert saying, "Where is he? I can't see him." due to the carrier missing even after getting shot up by Henstridge being cut for bad acting. The acting in the film is serviceable, I didn't expect oscar performances (who did?) but there's a line where serviceable acting ends and really awful acting begins. That line did it. Another reason I think it's an experiment is because of the opening, and the way it was filmed (only present in versions over 90 min). The camera moves in first person mode slowly to convey a cautious officer checking every corner and finding bodies all over the hospital. The camera techniques are intriguing, but i'm sure this was cut in the long run for being a bit too slow. As I said, you either like it or don't like it. Anyone interested in editing might want to compare both cuts.

reply

As it said before: The German DVD contains the full uncut version.
