Sequel? He said 'see you in 10 years'

In the end Bob says "see you in 10 years", WHERE IS THE SEQUEL?!

reply

I totally agree! I just finished watching the movie, and I was like, "alright, it's about time for that sequel!"

reply

I believe there is a sequel - called Nerds 2.0.1. It focuses on the Internet.

Larry Ellison made an interesting comment towards the end of the 3rd part :
"I think IBM is the past, Microsoft is the present, and the future has not happen so we don't know what company, what technology is gonna be dominant."

This was back in '96....interesting how a couple years later, a little company called "Google" was taking shape...

Larry Ellison did surpass Bill Gates' net worth for a few months and took the helm as "the richest person in the world" for a short time. He is still mega-rich and worth more individually than Paul Allen or Steve Balmer.

I doubt that Microsoft will ever go out of business; they're in too many markets now. Microsoft has had several epic fails, notably in not taking much advantage of the many opportunities provided by the internet. But they've had many successes too, they are the only ones bold enough to try to take on Sony with their Xbox platform.

That's right. It was released on VHS years ago, so far no DVD.

reply

Correct, it was never released on dvd.

I bought the 1998 sequel 'Nerds 2.0.1: A Brief History of the Internet' on three VHS and transfered it to 3 dvdr. Fortunately for the production of the 1998 sequel they dumped Ambrose Video and used Oregon PBS and I'm happy to report that the 3 VHS set is UNEDITED and a full 3 hours long. Thank you PBS!

reply

Nerds 2.0.1 is a completely different documentary [it is about the [r]evolution of the internet, where Triumph is about the [r]evolution of the pc].

I've descided to put on my bold shoes and mailed him, asking about a follow up.
We'll see.

No answer.

He must feel like he's too good to even answer a simple e-mail.
He should feel flattered to recieve an e-mail on this subject, it means that people actually watched it.

The sequel will be done soon when Silicon Valley recovers.

reply

Just saw this documentary. I I came hear to ask the same question. Why did he not make the sequel to this? No money? No interest?

reply

There was a sequel in 1998 called
Nerds 2.0.1 A Brief History of the Internet
also hosted by Robert Cringely 180 min, about 30 min longer than the first.
It was produced by Oregon PBS and only released on VHS tapes.
I bought a set from a library off Amazon and transferred them to dvds.
It's just as fun to watch as the first show but not much about Apple as the focus is all about the start of the net.
