Larry Ellison's Prediction

I seem to recall Larry Ellison predicting or suggesting, why do you need to go to a store, buy a program on a disc and install it onto your computer.

He thought the way to go was to go to the internet & "borrow" the same program. You wouldn't need to install anything on your computer.

Did I get that right? If so, does Larry have a Time Machine?

We're all in strung out shape, but stay frosty, and alert.

He said it was stupid to put bits on pieces of plastic and put plastic in boxes and put boxes in trucks and transport them across the country to put them on store shelves, and then people have to drive to the store to get them, because the bits could simply be put on the internet and downloaded.

But he didn't make any distinction about "borrowing" or not having to install. He did make the distinction of people having an "internet appliance" instead of a computer. He was basically predicting the smartphone, but I don't think he envisioned it as a tiny handheld.
