"Sweat" Availability

Is this TV series available for purchase on dvd/video? Given that one of the Australian series stars was the soon to be superstar Heath Ledger; you might think the company with the rights to the show would make it available to the public.

reply

since Heath plays a gay pretty boy athlete, it may be that some of his "people" are not to excited about it being released anyway. Whatever, it is a shame.
I have heard it is quite good.

reply

I doubt that the fact that Heath plays a gay character has anything to do with the avaibality of this t.v. series. If he, or his "people" had a problem with gay roles I doubt he would be starring in Brokeback Mountain.

Anyway, I do hope that this becomes available. If anyone knows where to find it, I'd be eterally grateful.

reply

does anyone have any news yet on when it will be avaliable.

Not seen this anywhere out on DVD or Video and only screened once as far as I know in Australia on Channel 10 I think. Although it was a barron production I think from memory and that company has had a lot realesed on video through various distributors Im still hoping too:)

I have Episode 5 of this on video. All the main actors are in it. The subplot involves the usual relationship issues between the regular cast members. The main story tells of a visiting television crew to the sports complex and the intrusion of a famous starlet named Robyn Barry. As a bonus to the team's excitement the TV company casts various members to appear in a popular soap opera. The director needs a body double to act as a stunt double for Robyn during the major sports scenes, and it is here that the drama unfolds. The reluctant serious girl is chosen for the big role over the party girl who openly yearned for the part. Most of the characters are adequately well developed for the show and remain notable in the multicultural context in which the cast were chosen. There is an Aboriginal boy, and Asian boy, a party girl, a serious girl, and a white boy coming to terms with his homosexuality played by Heath Ledger. Ledger is very young in this show. He is about 16 years old and he shows a youthful vitality to his character in this coming-of-age TV drama.
