Watch Two's A Crowd, Stolen Memories, The Main Man Parts I & II & Legacy. There, you will see Superman kicking much ass like he does in the comics.

I don't know if it was JLU or this show but I remember Superman fighting someone (Darkseid or someone like him & Superman started talking " Ya know, it is tough to control ones self all the time. Hard to nor knock down 1/2 a city by accident but i think I have had it".

Then beat the crap out of him.

reply

That was "Destroyer" in JLU. It was Superman's world of cardboard speech. And yes, it was Darkseid.

First, he holds back. Second, they exaggerated his vulnerability, just like Batman tends to have his athleticism exaggerated (It's not uncommon to see him jump 10 feet off the ground.)

'WHY DOES SUPERMAN GET BEAT UP SO MUCH?'

They de-powered him a lot from dramatic purposes.

reply

You could always imagine him tired, he's being a hero constantly. Some days he's fresh, some days worn out.

The major complaint about Superman throughout the years is that he's way too powerful and therefore there's no real drama in the action. There's only so many times a bad guy can use Kryptonite before it gets old. A lot of people find Superman boring for this very reason.

I've always been a Superman fan and I'm glad they neutered him for the show. If they hadn't, the only good episodes would be where he fights his equals like Darkseid or Doomsday. I don't want to watch a blowout every episode.

How come it's always ok for Batman to be invincible but not Superman?

reply

It's not.

Can't stop the signal.

The double standards of popularity & box office. And having lots of fans ascend to being writers.

There's a huge difference between taking a few hits. And taking too much abuse. Batman should teach Supes how to block and dodge oncoming attacks.

reply

I remember a story in the comics back in the early 70s where Supes was fighting someone (I can't remember who) as powerful as he was, and he mentally thanked Batman for having taught him some Judo. Should have done that in the show!

All for a box of chocolates...
