What episode??

Does anyone know if there was ever an episode where a guy that was on the show died in real life, so they had to make it go with the show because he was a regular character on the show? So in otherwords a guy died and they had to put it into the show because he obviously could not be on the show anymore.
Do you get what I am saying? (Sorry it's really confusing)
I know that I saw this on a show but I don't know if it was Suddenly Susan...so if anyone knows PLEASE tell me I would really like to know!!

David Strickland (Todd in the show) died on March 22nd, 1999.

yeah, they did do one. it was the end of season 3 and was called "a day in the life". They begin to realise that no one has seen todd all day, and so go looking for him, learning more and more about him through out the day, and three are snippets where each character talks about todd, and then at the end they find out that todd has been killed in an accident, and the audience find out that the tributes the characters made were actually tributes to David Strickland. Despite sounding like a cheesy idea it was actually very well done and very moving.

Really goes to show you that you never really know or appreciate someone till they are finally gone.

I know this was just a fluffy 90's sitcom but this is one of the best examples I can think of where an actor's suicide was done tastefully.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.
