A lot of the jokes wouldn't be allowed today...

Nearly every joke about homosexuality in the show refers to it as a "lifestyle choice" or "decision"...today that would be really taboo.

Plus, the show did have a whole bunch of scenes which included animal abuse (Rags especially).

I love the show, I even tolerate the post Heather Locklear phase (she ruined the show, not the writing or the other cast members...her presence was awful and her story lines were shallow and pointless), but those things would have been impossible to air on ABC today.

Oh please, the jokes would be even worse than they were.

Yeah I agree, it's not a very racy show. This series is now shown at 4:00pm on free over the air cable when little kids are around. It's a pretty clean show, even compared to other shows at the time.

You do realise that Spin city was the first show with open gay status as a relatively "normal" supporting actor, it was the first official "bromance" , and between the gay man and the most homophobic (well, jackass too) character of the show.

And rags is a suicidal animal ! HIMYM, Modern Family and many other did the same since.

Animal abuse, seriously...

As Dr Cox would say : you're wrong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_lRg8MsB0k

Yeah, people need to lighten up. In real life, yes it would be abuse and horrific at that. It's a show, with props, using exaggeration and effectively to make people laugh. Dogs that old do not consciously try to kill themselves, which is another reason why the Rags scenes are hilarious.

The Carter/Stuart partnership was brilliant, on multiple levels.

And yet the term "bromance" seems to mean "implied sexual relationship between two males who only have only a platonic friendship but argue over personal disagreements despite the friendship that gives the false appearance of a marriage".

All those liberal whingers make me sick.
