Why was this great show cancelled?

Well?

dunno - it got stupid in the second series - amnesia, magical rubies etc...

first season was good though

Magical rubies...? Huh? I think we were watching different shows...

Amnesia and magical rubies never happened on this show.

I agreee the 2nd season was stupid. They had dumb storylines and I hated how they just added the Cassie character just because people were whining about the lack of black characters in the series (I'm black and I have no problem with shows that don't have black characters). The season finale was good but I guess it wasn't good enough to make up for the rest of the horrific season.

Cassie was actually in the early drafts of the series - it was supposed to be based in both Savannah and with Cassie in New York. They retooled it before filming the pilot and then added Cassie in the second season anyway.

reply

I agree, the first season was interesting, but the second season got more stupid as it went along. Didn't really like the last 5 episodes or so. The problem with Cassie is that out of nowhere we had to accept her as one of their best friends who grew up with the others, but she wasn't even at Reese's wedding or in the graduation video! Her storylines were also boring and she hardly interacted with the others except for Lane.

good question. I love this show. Jamie Luner a bad girl was great.

I may have no business in answering this question. Except to say that 'Monday
Night Football' helped kill your Southern Belle. I could say the memory of it was effectively Slayed... by Buffy. It's been published that the 2 shows' audience differential was a million. Let's just say that Michigan J. grew a 3rd frog-leg with those numbers. Yet he still kept a cane until his demise, after 'Angel' left.
Thank you, Savannah. I guess you could say that you're my Jesus. Your death is
what saved my life. I'm eternally grateful...For you brought Buffy into my life.
Actually, I'm not sure how that Jesus/saving thing goes. But PLEASE, DON'T say!!
If some evan-jellyroll out there tries to explain it all... I might off myself...

I was 12 when they canceled it and yes, what a shame. The reason is quite simple actually. After the season finale (in which I clearly remember you know who dying), for whatever reason or another this show took a break (probably to review the popularity and viewership) and does anyone remember what show the WB aired in Savannah's place as a test run? Test run meaning to see how successful that show would be. DING DING DING? That show was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Savannah was canceled because Buffy became an occult hit and had more viewers than Savannah (same time slot), and though I enjoyed Savannah I do take sides with Buffy and admit that I also enjoyed that show very much. Probably even more so than Savannah.

I really liked it.
