Actually, the reasons it has not released in the US are different from what they used to be... When DIC had the rights to Sailormoon, way back in the day, they said that if they aquired rights to S, SuperS and Stars they would be very, heavily edited (moreso than Classic and R)... Stars in particular. They had the idea to make the Starlights always female and cut/edit any romantic scenes between Usagi and Seiya (... that would be alot.)
Luckily DIC did not get the privilege of bringing out S and SuperS. Pioneer/Geneon and Cloverway gained rights to the DVD release and dubbing, and ADV got rights to the first two seasons to release on DVD (horrible DVD release in my opinion.)
The reason they will not bring out SailorStars now, has little to do with "adult situations" and more to do with obtaining rights to the show. No company has yet to legally obtain rights to distribute SailorStars in any way shape or form in the US. It's a tedious process, many Japanese companies own the rights to Sailormoon in Japan and other countries have to go through many of them to get it licensed in that country.
Pioneer was attempting to gain rights to SailorStars before they became Geneon and ADV is dead so they won't be doing anything.
At the moment Amazon has listed the Hong Kong release of SailorStars on DVD... in otherwords... the bootlegged, all region, 4 disc, Japanese spoken language, English subtitled version found floating all over ebay as well as the rest of the internet. That is American's only hope of obtaining SailorStars on DVD right now... personally, I own the VKLL Fansubs on DVD and they are wonderful and most likely better than the aformentioned Hong Kong DVD release (they tend to have horrible, horrible subtitles.)
From what I have heard, other companies have tried to obtain rights to redistribute SailorStars in the US but I am not sure which ones or why it is proving so difficult to obtain rights to this specific series.
All we can do is wait... and enjoy our fansubs in the meantime... and probably afterwords if they do a really *beep* horrible DVD release like ADV did with the first two seasons... my god, those were horrible. Unlike S and SuperS they didn't even get to use the Japanese lasterdisc master copies to subtitle and release on DVD... they had to work with the *beep* (though uncut) VHS transfers that were floating around YTV/DIC studios, hence the mediocre video quality and HORRIBLE audio quality... biggest waste of money ever. I'll take my fansubs over that pile of crap any day.

I am glad they didn't release season 5 as the new changes would make it a horrible season. I like the Japanese version!!!

they could edit some of the stuff.
okay the starlights- don't edit it. there is nothing wrong with it really.
nude fighting sailor moon- do what they did with the transformations: airbrush. paint on the white leotard or something.
neptune and uranus-? what should we do with them?
