Does it get better again? (after the beginning of Season 4)

I just started to watch this show again because it seemed to me like I never saw all episodes.

Having just started Season 4, I got a hunch why that may have been.
Sabrina devolving from a lovable girl to a relatively shallow brat. Horrible dialogue. Unfunny one-liners (the first three episodes of that season barely ever even made me smile). And even Britney f-ing Spears.

I'd say no. There might be a couple in the last year of high school that were okay, but I think I've watched all of college and her job and I can't recall one episode where I thought "that was funny and entertaining" like I did during the first 3 seasons.

Season 4 was my least favorite. I really loved season 1 along with 2&3. The college seasons were decent.

What do you speak of ? Season 4 ? There is no season 4.

There are three seasons. And somebody mysterically created a finale for the show in which Sabrina and Harvey drive away on a motorbike into the sunset. Oh, and there are the cinema movies.

On a more serious note, no it doesnt get better. Season 1-3 are when Sabrina was really good. After that it only gets worse and worse and then even worse.

Mistakes with Season 4.
Dreama just disappeared after she was ready to get her witches' licence. No reasons, explanations for example telling Sabrina she's got to solve her family secret, nope she just disappears just like Jenny.

Harvey's best friend Brad was just nasty, her boyfriends best friend. I know its a sitcom but the hunters gene being a tiny tiny pair of jeans was really lame, how many kids would laugh at it even now?

The break-up. Oh they didn't even have a chance to talk about her being a witch for the first episode of season five they just got rid of Harvey for most of the college seasons.

Maybe I'm in a minority but I enjoyed Season 4. At least compared to the college seasons.
I think it was probably the weakest season of Seasons 1-4, but still had some good episodes and to me still had the charm and humour of previous seasons.

Some of it I agree seemed a bit clunky. Replacing Libby and Valerie with Brad and Dreama, but the story with Dreama never seeming to carry out. I thought Brad at least was interesting.
I didn't really like Sabrina cheating with Josh, even if it was just a kiss. But then I guess she'd had relationships also in earlier seasons. Apart from the likes of Libby and Valerie being absent it did seem consistent with earlier seasons with the high school setting and other regular characters as well as the likes of Mrs Quick and Roland.

I'm interested to know how the show would've carried out after the Season 4 finale if it had stayed on the same network, or whether it ended with Harvey discovering she's a witch with the writers/producers knowing it would be moving to a new channel in advance with a new take on things.

I'm joining you too.
I did like Season 4.
Sure I did miss Valerie and Libby, but I think it was a good idea for Sabrina to have a witch friend of her age and rely on her when she had trouble with her magic, but perhaps they could have given Dreama a little more participation.
Brad was interesting and had a lot of potential, but again, they didn't give him enough screen time to develop the character.
I think in this season, it's where we see a more maturing Harvey/Sabrina relationship, more than just teen love, which I loved, except the part where Sabrina cheated on with Josh.
Josh is probably the negative side that I see of this season. His introduction was annoying to watch and can't simply accept him, even they soften him up on the next seasons, can't bear he was a major factor on Sabrina/Harvey breakup, and a negative point to the show's decline in ratings and audience, as well as other factors.
And just as you point out, I wonder how ABC would had handled the 5th season.

I'm afraid not. After Season 4 was when those awful, cringe-worthy college seasons started, and that was also around the time Melissa started doing cocaine, so that's why she was so hyper on set, in addition to rushing through her lines in almost every take. Better if you just watch Seasons 1-4 and pretend the others never happened.

It's at least watchable. Frankly the only episode I liked after season 4 was the series finale where she goes back to Harvey. Everything from season 5 to there is unwatchable imo.
