The Saturday Night 'Thrillogy':

Did anyone actually like the other 2 shows? I always remember dark skies and the pretender were SO insanely hyped, while profiler was an afterthought, and imo profiler was the best of the 3.

Pretender was rightfully hyped. that show was simply amazing and deserved all the hype it might have recieved (i wouldn't know since i became a fan of the show this past Christmas when the dvd's for pretender started coming out.) I can't say anything about profiler since i haven't watched it (although i want to). Dark skies i don't know about either.

I don't remember DARK SKIES at all. PROFILED I watched off and on, but never really took to. THE PRETENDER was terrific, though.

Yeah, the "Saturday Night 'Triollogy'" concept never quite caught on, although I thought it was a great idea.

During the 1996-97 season, NBC aired DARK SKIES at 8pm, THE PRETENDER at 9pm, and PROFILER at 10pm. That was my favorite line-up.

DARK SKIES only lasted one season, and was replaced during the 1997-98 season with THE OTHERS (which only lasted for 13 episodes). It was a good series but for whatever reason, NBC aired the episodes out of order and the audience had a hard time keeping up with the plot. Not the best way to handle a show you're hoping will find an audience.

A mid-season replacement, titled WIND ON WATER starring Bo Derrick replaced THE OTHERS but it was boring and quickly fell off the schedule.

Between 1998-2000, the "Thrillogy" concept was dropped altogether. THE PRETENDER kept its 9pm timeslot and PROFILER kept it 10pm timeline. The 8pm timeslot was then used to broadcast failed pilots and specials.
