Season 1: Excellent

Season 2: Excellent

Season 3: What a joke about Lucas (anyone who watched the previous seasons knew it couldn't be him). Too bad it wasn't that dark filmed (lighting) as before. I did like getting to know the UnSubs and their lives, although it took away trying to figure out yourself who could have done it (profile for yourself). The biggest shame was when they revealed Jack as being that Sheriff mid-season. They should have revealed him as they did at the cabin with a flashback of Lucas looking scared at someone but this time showing the face of Jack/Sheriff in the courtroom.

Season 4: Dumb ending of the Samantha-Jack Storyline. The dumbest thing though was letting Samantha Waters' character go. She had more emotion that Rachel Burke. Lousy storylines involving John's Girlfriend dying, George's addiction & the next pregnancy of Grace after the miracle of her getting pregnant the first time.

Overall: It would have been better if they cancelled the show after season 2 and making a movie to conclude a 'good' ending for the Samantha-Jack storyline. Because the first two seasons were the best I had ever seen!

I'm in agreement with you. Seasons 1 and 2 were AWESOME. I really hated seasons 3 and 4 initially but season 3 does have some good points now that I've watched it in retrospect. As for season 4, I only watch the first two episodes. IMO, Sam leaving the VCTF was a good enough ending to the show.

From what I understand, Ally Walker demanded that the show's tone and violence be lightened up, which explains the change in not only the show's storylines and look but also the new writers and producers. They only made superficial changes, however, and she was successful in requesting to be released from her contract.
