So Was Anything Resolved?

I used to watch "The Pretender" and I did see the movie "Island Of The Haunted."
So what I would like to know is if Jarrod ever found out the mystery of his
parents' fate? 1. And did he also ever find out his true childhood background?
2. Were his parents still alive? 3. Did he have any siblings? 4. Where was Jarrod born? I have not seen the episodes nor the movie in many years. Any answers are appreciated.

Spoiler warnings - for new viewers, don't read beyond this point... you've been warned :P.

I've watched the entire series (recently) haven't had the time to watch the movies just yet, so my answers will only be to the point of the series finale...

1. There was a little of his background as a child talked about - prior to him being taken - thru the series, more-so in later seasons. They didn't go that deep into how Jarod was as a kid, just that he was found to be exceptinally smart.
After Jarod (don't recall them ever giving his "birth" name) and his younger brother "Kyle" (whom Jarod didn't know was his brother when they "met" years after being taken) were taken their father, while trying to find them, discovered that the fertility clinic that helped them get pregnant, were part of the company that took Jarod and Kyle. He found out that not only they were doing the experiments on a large scale, but that Jarod's teacher and doctor were also involved. He and his wife went into hiding fearing that someone would try and kill them - and they did try.

2. He has a sister - born while parents in hiding. In the episode wher Jarod goes to meet with his mother and sister, he gets to see her (from a distance) in the taxi, but when he sees a Sweeper Team moving in he yells at them to flee, so they don't get to speak. In season 4 he IS able to meet with her and finds out she's been looking for him for years.

He has 2 brothers - Kyle, whom he "met" when they were still kids, but several years after being taken. They were allowed to be "friends" for a very short while... an experiment to see how they would interact and if they would know who they were... As an adult Kyle was made into a somewhat heartless - (okay so slightly ironic statement, beings after he was killed Jarod had Kyle's heart transplanted into a kid that would die without it) assassin/Pretender - by Rhains psychotic teachings (unlike how Syd taught/guided Jarod)...
In season 4 he learns about the 2nd brother, a half brother, the other half being a Parker (he's also the Half-brother Miss Parker never knew about)... Rhains had secretly been controlling the guy for years, guy had the same mental telepathy Mrs. Parker had (she faked her death while trying to save Jarod and 6 other boys after she saw what the company and expecially Rhains had been doing to the abducted children)...the boy was born after she "died" and Rhains killed her and took the baby... In the Series finale both Jarod and Miss Parker had to try and save the guy (who's name is totally excaping me right now).

Jarod did reunite with his father, they worked together a couple times. When they first got back together, he (father) had lost contact with the mom and daughter a few years back (don't remember the specifics but it had something to do with they almost got caught and had to run and the dad wasn't there at the time so they lost contact), they got seporated from eachother and he was trying to find them - he did reunite with the daughter after Jarod found her in season 4.

Mom - he only got to "See" her once. as I said above it was from a distance, like a block or something. He got to see her, she saw him, they both smiled, but they never got to speak. When he saw the Sweepers he yelled for her to get out of there and she jumped back in the cab and they - her and the daughter - drove off. He kept looking for her but up to the end of the series he hadn't found her, I don't believe he found her in the movies either, but as I said haven't seen them yet. He did have dreams a few times in the show where she talked to him, but only in fragments never a real conversation...his inner child trying to make contact with a wishful memory of her basically.

Jarod also has a clone of himself - at the age he was in most of the videos (played by Ryan M.)... Rhains had him made and was trying to use him as a replacement for Jarod... Jarod and his dad had one chance to get him and they took it, saved the boy and his/their dad was going to raise him.

I hope that answers your question, know it was a bit vauge but the way they revealed stuff in the show wasn't in chunks, there were little bits here and there that had to be put together over time.

Thanks Kim,

For the very detailed and intriguing answers to my questions.

I have not seen The Pretender in many years and do not own
the dvds and I really wish that NBC had tied up all of
the "loose ends." Imho one of the best tv shows of the
90's.

I have to agree that it was one of the best shows of the 90's. I loved The Pretender, Early Edition and the short lived Dark Skies and Strange Luck. Brings back memories. I wish they would do another movie to tie up loose ends

Pretty sure - as I am just starting to re-watch the series and the movies. That in the - I believe 2nd movie (the island one) - is that Rhaines and Mr. Parker are bothers and that Rhaines is actually Ms. Parker's father.
