Any Burn Notice fans among The Pretender Fanbase?

I'm curious about this.

When I started watching Burn Notice, it was because I didn't see Jeffrey Donovan, it was because I saw "Kyle".

To me, it's like seeing what Kyle might have been able to do if he had lived. (Whenever I watch Red Rock Jarod it really breaks my effing heart.)

But basically, Burn Notice is an ex-spy, who often has to PRETEND to be someone he's not, in order to help "defend the weak and abused." And in the end, the bad guys always get what they deserve, often suffering fates FAR more grim than anything Jarod ever inflicted.

Of course, the differences are he has his family, and his family have often been used as thumbscrews. So has Jarod, but often they use Jarod's family or simply _knowledge_ of his family as bait.

I love both these shows. I have the entire Pretender series on DVD, and Burn Notice season 1 on DVD. There are similarities, and there are differences, but I enjoy them both. Both main characters, Jarod and Michael, have such compassion for the "weak and abused" and go to great extremes to liberate them, that, for me, is the primary appeal of both shows.

Character palettes and dynamics are different, and interesting, but I prefer the Pretender's character palette which is much richer.

I say all this to make clear that I'm not saying "Burn Notice is better" or "The Pretender is better." or "You all should like Burn Notice, too, because it's the same" or anything like that. Though I prefer The Pretender, there's room in my heart, (and DVD cabinet), for both of these fantastic shows.

Does anyone else out there feel the same?

I'd also like to see Donovan and Weiss paired up again in Donovan's show (but I'd find it more interesting to find them in an adversarial relationship.)

I am still a huge fan of the Pretender, and I only started watching Burn Notice because I saw that it was a star from the Pretender. Needless to say its a pretty good show. So there are at least 2 of us out there who are fans of both.

I've been watching since the first episode so I guess I could be called a fan of BN. Its a good show.

I saw Jeffrey Donovan on the previews and thought "There's Kyle!" I looked in and got hooked. He's not Kyle exactly but his character does have a tendency toward cold calculation much like Jarod.

I loved the pilot, when he taught the kid how to fight. At first he was clueless on how to handle a crying child but suddenly he was feeling what the kid felt and knew more how to connect than anyone else might have been. I've seen Jarod do that as well.

I too would like to see Jeffrey and Michael Weiss together again. I don't care if it's adversarial or perhaps Michael as his mentor.

I can't say which show I like more. They're both great and both have great outstanding lead characters. I do like the humer in Burn Notice and have grown to love Sam, Fi, Vi and especially Nate. These two guys work well together.

Sublevel, I totally agree with you. What Michael is in Burn Notice is what Kyle could have become. Both shows are great, although Burn Notice for me is essencially MacGyver 2.0. whereas the Pretender will always have a special place in my heart. I would definitely want to see Weiss make an appearance in Burn Notice.

Not just him and Michael T. Weiss(Jarod) but with Patrick Bauchau(Sydney). The irony is that they both portrayed a villain. Maybe they'll have someone else playing a friend who was originally a bad guy like Mr. Lyle or Miss Parker(not bad but really mean).

I too am a fan of both shows. It was so awesome seeing Patrick Bauchau and then Michael T. Weiss on Burn Notice. Along with Andrea Parker on Suits. Some people have noticed some other connections. I hope it means something cool like USA has acquired the rights and is going to properly wrap up The Pretender, maybe even bringing in Jeffery Donovan somehow. Just please, not something like a clone/twin or bringing him back alive even though he was a heart transplant donor. When I first started watching Burn Notice it was bugging me because I couldn't figure out where I had seen him before. I looked him up on here and saw Hitch and the episode of Monk he was in, but I knew it was something else. Then the opportunity arose for me to start The Pretender again (thanks Hulu) and when I got to "Dragon House" my jaw dropped. There it was. Also, I would love to see Michael T. Weiss's Burn Notice character Holcomb become a recurring bad guy. A revenge episode where he tells Michael Westen "I decide who lives or dies." would be awesome.

The Pretender was one of my favorite shows and I've recently started enjoying Burn Notice. I love the shows on the USA network and it would be a perfect network for more Pretender

I too like Burn Notice. I loved it when Michael T Weiss was a guest star on it. It was almost a pretender reunion. The episode before that was Patrick.

Don't give me attitude. I have my own.

Huge fan of The Pretender! Huge Burn Notice fan too! Love their similarities and just dig the sort of antihero shows. FTW.
