Gold Ranger really a Black Ranger
Is the Gold Ranger really a type of Black Ranger?

He's more black than Gold, I always thought that and it drove me nuts!

shareI wouldn't have worked as they had to use the costumes from the Sentai series that PR series was based upon so changes to the suits were beyond Saban's control a bit like how so many female Yellow Rangers don't have skirts because the Sentai series has a male Yellow Ranger. I jhave sometyimes thought that the Gold Ranger couls have been called "Zeo Ranger VI Gold" because he was the sixth Zeo Ranger and his belt buckle has six points on it but I suppose the producers just wanted to make Gold Ranger extra special what with the mystery surrounding his identity in his early episodes and that.
shareFine. But why call him the GOLD ranger instead of the BLACK ranger? That's almost like calling the original Green Ranger the Gold Ranger because he has just about the same amount of gold or the original White ranger the Gold Ranger.

Maybe it was because they already had a Black Ranger in MMPR and by calling him just that would kind of take the shine of the sixth Ranger of the day. I suppose they could easily have given him a name that didn't reflect the colour of their uniform something along the lines of "Pyramid Ranger" (kind of lame I know. It's a bit of a difficult one to think of really.
shareWell, I think they just wanted to find some fancy title. The gold ranger in the Japanese series was the KingRanger. KingRanger was a child like warrior from the past, and that played well into making the first Gold Ranger some warrior (actually three warriors) from another faraway land.
shareThe Gold Ranger is listed as Other Ranger eventhough, his costume was mostly black. Now, should had they called him Black Ranger? Perhaps but by default, he is classified as the Other Ranger name.
