I wonder if anyone can help me. I remember watching a TV series when i was younger about a group of teenagers who find an entrance to another world through an old church. I think it was set up north. I dont suppose anyone knows it's name?

That sounds very like Elidor.
Never saw the TV series but read the book.
Alan Garner wrote the book, he also wrote the Owl Service which was also made into a TV series.
