Favourite part of an episode

By far the most priceless part of an episode of "Muppets tonight" was the one where Gonzo started firing the "Fine young Cannonballs" to the 1812 overture by Tchaikovsky.
(This is one of the very few episodes I could catch)
Please feel free to post your favourite parts.

That whole "Phenomenon" thing was amazing. I didn't think that many people watched it but I remember all the kids were doing it in school the next day.

reply

the "Sandra Buttocks" was too funny

Yeah, I'm inclined to say the "Phenomena" sketch with Sandra Bullock. I am wild about that sketch. I don't know what it is about it, but I love it. For a long time I never even knew about the original "Mahna Mahna" sketch from "The Muppet Show" that it was based on. I still haven't seen it, but I've heard an audio version of, and from what I understand it was sang by the same monster that pops up after Sandra sings "Shave and a haircut." I've even been a little brain washed by the whole "Phenomena" bit. Everytime I hear the word I secretly sing the riff under my breath, and during a Pep Rally at my high school that I was playing for in band I had to stop myself from playing the riff on my sax after one of the speakers said phenomena. It would've been awesome if I had and the speaker went along with it because he'd seen the sketch before.

No, Mahna Mahna was not sung by the same monster who popped up after sandra bullock sang "shave and a haircut". that monsters name is doglion. the muppet sho sang mahna mahna was actually called "mahna mahna". he is a pink human muppet with wild orange hair, eyes that look like sunglasses (they blink, so they are his eyes) and a furry green outfit (or is that his body) which kinda looks like a fraggles body. If you have seen the muppet show sketch "sax and violence", mahna mahna is the guy who played triangle bell in that song. he can also be seen in the bottom row at the end of the muppet show theme song. If you need more help on what he looks like, he looks like the muppet who sang several songs on sesame street, such as "fat cat", "scratch my back" and "some of us are here". His name is Bip Bippodotta.

if that information is not helpful, there is a website called www.kermitage.com. go to the characters guide, and read the description of mahna mahna. there is a picture of what he looks like.

The two back-up singers from the phenomena sketch, called Snowths, were the same back-up singers in the mahna mahna sketch.

anyway, one of my favorite moments from Muppets Tonight! was the scene from the cindy crawford episode where rizzo uses a microphone to help bobo ask cindy out. however, bobo messes up his first line and rizzo keeps saying things that bobo is not supposed to say.

Thanks, dude. Guess I got my wires crossed. I actually appreciate the correction. Makes me wanna see that original "Mahna Mahna" sketch even more. Anyone know where I could get my hands on a copy of it?

I think Mahna Mahna and Bip Bippadotta were the same character. Because sometimes, Bip didn't look a whole lot like the Mahna Mahna singer, but other times, he looked just like him. Same voice all the way through though.

Bip's my favorite Muppet. :-)

I can't remember if it was on this but the only real thing I remember about Muppets Tonight was Kermit telling the auidence they were going to have The Smashing Pumpkins as a guest but then it turns out it's a guy who smashing anthromopic pumpkins who are scared for their life. I still find that funny, even some 11 years after seeing it.

I alwyas remember the part with Semour and Pepe.

I'm Seymour
I'm Pepe
We're two of a kind!
I'm a little bit forward
And I got a big behind!

Hey Seymour!
Yes Pepe?
What do you get when you cross an elephant with a rhino?
I dunno what?
'Eliph-ino'!
(Both pause for the crowds' reaction, but the audience just gawks waiting for the punchline).
After a few parts of the show, they are trying to explain the joke to the audience with diagrams and repeating it over and over.

I think it was the episode with Cindy Crawford with the sketch of her, Kermit, and a bunch of muppet kids, who are part of somethink like the Mickey Mouse club. The kids stand in a line, jump forward, and say their name.

"Ricky!"
"Susie!"
"Stu!"
"Jimmy!"
"Sally!"
"Stu!"
"Sammy!"
"Stu!"

Kermit: Woah! You were just up three times.

Stu: Was I? I have short term memory loss...Stu!

The episode with Prince where he tries to get past the bear:

Bear: Name?
Prince: I don't have a name.
Bear: Well, I can't let you in without a name.
Prince: I don't have a name. I have a symbol. (Shows his symbol)
Bear: That's a picture of my mother! Give me that!
Prince: I'm the guest tonight.
Bear: No, our guest tonight is Prince.
Prince: Well, that's me.
Bear: I thought you didn't have a name.
Prince: I don't. I'm the Artist Formally Known as Prince.
Bear: Yeah? And I'm the bear currently known as not amused.

And one of my all time favourites was when a guest failed to show up, and the bear goes into the street to find a new guest. He's asking people for help, and Jay Leno walks up.

Jay: Hey, I heard you need a guest for your show tonight.
Bear: Oh! Hey, thanks buddy! You take that side of the street and start asking people.
Jay: What? No, I meant me.
Bear: Who are you?
Jay: I'm Jay Leno. I have a talk show. You know the Tonight Show?
Bear: Sorry pal, never heard of you.

After some arguing, Kevin Eubanks walks by.

Bear: Oh my gosh, it's Kevin Eubanks! Kevin?
Kevin: Yeah?
Bear: I'm a huge fan. I watch your show all the time!
(Jay Leno stands astounded)
Bear: Will you host our show tonight?
Kevin: Sure.
Jay: His show? That's my show.
Bear: Get lost buddy.

theshadow908 mentioned the Prince episode which has the hilarious exchange with Bobo at the reception desk. Where Prince produces a card with his symbol and Bobo responds as if he were taking one of those Rorschach tests (ink blot tests) by saying "I see my mother dancing naked on an orange."

Later as the episode goes on and more Prince symbols are shown, Bobo says "Hey, how many pictures of my mother are out there?"

Hilarious.

I like the Sandra Bullock episode the best, though.

I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

There for me is one quote

To the James Bond Theme

"Pierce Brosnan
He's the guy
The guy with the clocks that fly
He just clocked that guy"

Just Pierce Brosnan in the lobster suit still makes me smile.

I liked the Thor: God of Thunder episode.

Tonight, Thor gets a library card!!

Contains that immortal line: "Ow, my mythological buttocks!!"

If Plan A doesn't work, you should have a Plan B, not Plan A recycled

The bit where andy and randy pig are juggling with pierce brosnan and they have no idea whats going on.

Semour and Pepe's What do you get if you cross and elephant and a rhino was my favorate. I also loved it when Pierce Brosnan punched the muppet how looked like a fish in the casino scene. Laugh out load stuff, i want the DVD!!

It would have to be the Garth Brooks episode where Gonzo wants him to participate in his new stunt, Inverted Bungie Jumping. Strap bungie cords to his ankles, put on a jet pack that will send him into orbit, and wait for it to run out of fuel, then rebound back to the solid earth below.

Such a Gonzo thing....

My favorite part is when Garth Brooks dresses up as Tevye and starts kicking chickens off the roof. Every time my family and I watch Fiddler On The Roof or see Garth on t.v. we always think of that scene and laugh.

THe Michelle Pfeiffer episode where Pfeiffer and Miss Piggy were batteling it out over who got to play Maria in "The Sound of Music." Pfeiffer won out, but then Piggy started singing and interupting during Pfeiffer's number. THat's when Pfeiffer said "i'm going to sing you a song" and glaring at Piggy said "in key." There is a link to a clip of this on the Michelle Pfeiffer boards.

I loved the "pretty bunsen"-song!! Beaker was gone to a Star Trek convention and Bunsen feels lonely. He's trying new styles and then Johnny Fiama and Sal are going to help him change his style.

Johnny's song was great!!
Pretty Bunsen, not that I'm into that
Pretty Bunsen, though you're bald and fat
Pretty Bunsen, we're gonna make you look real cool
And all the chicks you'll know will drool

Seinfeld Babies was funny too!
The babies were having a contest about who could go the longest without a diaper-change. And ofcourse Kramer lost immediatly. Kramer also barged in to borrow some spare formula from Jerry and George was depressed because he was getting bald.
