this crap is weird

i didnt get this movie reallt at all. i mean, it was good but i never seen anything like this. its good, but star wars is better, its better than star trek, ill say that.

reply

i havnt seen the movie, but ive been watching it on the sci-fi channel and am totally addicted to it as of now.I try not to compare it to anything(especially classics like Star Wars and Star Trek)because it just aint got that kind of jack.I think i like it so much BECAUSE of the fact that its so strange and kooky.

I loved this show because it was so anti-star trek/star wars. I just wish it didnt have to end....sigh.

I agree with you. I didnt want Kia to die either. I had hoped at the last minute, he would be saved....but alas. One of the things I really liked was the fact that we, EARTH, are in the Dark Universe!

Thanks for the spoiler moron

I dearly hope that you arent calling me a moron.
Have you accepted Alan Rickman as your personal Saviour?

reply

They most certainly called you a “moron”. You see, there's also a “thanks for the spoiler” that should be a big hint.

I speak England very best.

reply

It is true. You can't compare it to anything else, because it is very original.

reply

You poor Americans just don't get it because your American

reply

Actually it was from Germany first, and being that I am German, I understand it fine.

Have you accepted Alan Rickman as your personal Saviour?

reply

Actually it's both Canada and Germany.

reply

I love the visuals in this show - the scenery looks like it was a set from the Original Series of Star Trek and the CGI while quite inventive, isnt fooling anyone...

But despite and perhaps because of the pitiful budget the show goes to places most of the other SF/space operas darent tread...

Still not sure whether to love it or just weep with laughter at some of the bad dialogue/acting when I watch Lexx. Definitely worth checking out - just keep an open mind and your tongue in cheek.

Love ya

reply

A Canada-Germany Co-poroduction...yes. But it is and always has been a Canadian show. The creators, writers and directors are Canadian. The Germans invested in the show (and provided some acting talent - not to mention the settings for Season 3). We can be thankful for that investment!

reply

Germans provided Eva Habermann so it's more like a German show for me :D

reply

I'm American and I love everything about the show! I love Lexx, Kai, Michael Mcmanus, Xev/zev, xenia is pretty fun, and even manly stanley! This show doesn't fit in regular circulation, but it is so my type of show that I wish everyone watched it because then the world would be a happier place!!

reply

Hehe, the CGI was crap, the script was... well, strange, the acting was quite ok. But it was simply fun to watch, not taking itself serious as star trek (which I absolutely love and is far beyond Lexx in terms of acting, script and esp. CGI (if you look at season 7 of DS9)). Anyway, yes, never seen anything like this. And its damn sexy (Zev... :D ).

reply

Maybe it is weird, but it is probably the best Sci-Fi series I've seen in years.

reply

I LOVED this because of it's weirdness... it appeals to me in the same way as the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books did, well the original 4 episodes anyways.... didn't think as much of the series really.

reply

Science fiction is SUPPOSED to be weird. It's SUPPOSED to screw with your mind.

Lexx did that in a way that no other sci-fi show bothers anymore (least of all Star Trek, which plays it safe and dull like no other).

Lexx deserves a space on the shelf by the REAL daring science fiction classics like The Prisoner, Saphire and Steel, The (original) Twilight Zone and... The Clangers.

There aren't enough science fiction shows on tv anymore and even fewer trying to be different. Lexx could be the last we see for a while.

Until HBO finally gets around to making one.

reply

I agree completely.....
Good Scifi isn't suppose to be straight forward and always safe because the truth is the real world isn't normal, and there are many strange things out there....this show just picks that weird tag up and amplifies it thus its appeal... oh and the main characters are hilarious-a scaredy cat red fool, a cluster lizard tease (which I have met a few females like that in real life), and a drop DEAD gorgeous reanimated assassin...not to mention a very devious robot head with an x-rated mouth and mind, and a living ship that is shaped oddly (no comment) with the innocence of a child~What more do you want in a show? Oh, scratch that....in real life most people think of only one thing, this show just happens to keep that one thing in mind at all times....you know what I am referring to....

reply

Mignightatten, the living ship has the appearance of a mosquito in it's larval stage.

The Clangers ... ?

- ok sure it gets my vote :-P

All i want is everything

I like the fact that "Lexx" wasn't as puritanical as many other sci-fi shows. They weren't afraid to push the boundries in regards to sex and the just plain bizarre. It's definitely one of my favorite sci-fi series.

reply

I agree 100 percent. The show pushed some limits. It still beats most of the current fare. The shows comments and asides on politics, sexuality and the human condition were always interesting - AND funny.

Weird = original = good. Seriously, its just so off-the-wall and different that you have to love it. Some stupid Star Trek clone wouldn't have been interesting at all.

And does the irony escape you when you take into strong consideration and look at who's talking about 'this crap is weird' from the OP when weirdness is synonymous with Japanese animation and science fiction.
