No one can does Call like Jones.

I regard Lonesome Dove as the greatest thing ever and I liked part 2, and think Streets of Laredo was really good, but this was kinda pathetic. Arquette doesn't do that bad of a job at all but the guy who plays Call is godawful. I have no freakin idea why they decided to let a British guy play a Texan. From the beginning of the film he sticks out apart from everyone else. It is the worst fake accent I have ever heard the only way I can explain it is if you have seen the film "Nell" starring Jodie Foster and then you add "Cherry" played by Marilyn Monroe in Bus Stop. Those accents were done pretty well but when you put them together you would get a horrible noise like fingernails across a chalk board. It's like a lifeless monotone deaf mentally challenged person. It's beyond funny, almost insulting. He ruins the movie with every scene he's in and makes the series almost impossible to watch. Tommy Lee Jones was the real Deal and no one seems to get that character right. In LD2 he was played by Jon Voight who made him look like a confused, paranoid, emotionless, waste of space. In Streets of Laredo Garner played him pretty well but he seemed like nothing more than a miserable fart a lot of the time up until the end where he showed he had a heart. In Commanche Moon he seems to lack any personality at all and it takes away form the friendship and Camaraderie between him and Augustus. But he is tolerable.
I wish that somehow Duvall, Jones and all those guys could have starred as their younger selves in the prequels because they really struck gold in 1989 but I guess lightning doesnt strike the same place twice. Imagine If Lonesome Dove was made in a Star Wars like sequence, wouldn't that have been neat?

Huh. I'm a Texan and I thought Miller did a great job and his accent was fine. And who cares if he is English? He's an actor, it's his job to pretend to be someone he is not. Besides, his name sounds Texan!

I've heard a lot of Texas accents but his was more like some type of Carolina slack-jaw mountain man accent. I have heard some gnarly accents from south carolin to kentucky, florida, Mississippi, whatever but he just sounded unbearable. I don't know maybe we all hear things differently I know I sound different on an audio recording that's for sure.
