Reason for original cancelation {Tori Spelling}

I read in Winki that Aaron Spelling didn't want Kindred to compete with 90210.. He wanted peoples attention to be on his horse faced, tranny daughter.

True or not, this post is FUNNY!

Oh yes that is very funny!! However, I think it was cancelled because Mark Frankel died in a motorbike accident and they didn't want to bring someone new in to replace him.

I may be wrong, but seem to remember it being that.

This thread is sort of half right/half wrong. Kindred: The Embraced was not canceled because of Aaron Spelling or his daughter. It was canceled due to low ratings. Showtime was in the process of reviving it when Mark Frankel (Julian Luna) was killed in a motorcycle accident. HOWEVER, Aaron Spelling became the showrunner because he didn't want it to compete with Beverly Hills, 90210.

I had the chance to talk with Chris McDonough, one of the lead developers for White Wolf at the time and currently the Producer for their MMO. First of all, Showtime was Never in negotiations to revive the show. Ratings were not low, they were actually doing decent. There are 2 reasons and 2 reasons only that the show was cancelled. First and foremost was the death of Mr. Frankel. The show was being developed around his character. Second was the FOX network wanted to go in a different direction with their programming and Kindred did not fit in with where they wanted to go.

I would assume it was cancelled because gamers had faults with the tribes so they wouldn't watch it and basically non-gamers probably didn't want to have to memorize who is with what tribe or what characteristics they have...

I watched this when it first came out, and liked it. Didn't know there was a game nor care until today. Too bad, whatever the reason, that it was cancelled. I feel just as strongly about Moonlight. A real shame about Mark Frankel! I enjoyed this, and thankfully can watch it as a marathon on Super Bowl Sunday (G-d save me from sports shows!)

I have no problem with the acting, and can remember who's who and which tribe w/o being a gamer.

Funny about Tori... I just can't look at her without wincing, nor watch any show she's in. Have a great day.

This show was shown at a different timeslot each week and I heard America never got to see episode 8 on TV. I believe that this is the main reason why many shows get canned. I loved Brisco County Jr which was on around the same time but they axed it too. These were two shows that had HUGE potential. I am a player of the card game so I was not missing this show for anything.

The US got episode 8. Episode 3 (Nightstalker), however, was skipped in the US, so the confusion arises from the fact that the fourth episode shown in the US was actually the 5th overall, and so on.

But yes, the US only got 7 episodes, then the show was flat-out canceled without even showing repeats. Which is somewhat ridiculous in the sense that you're not giving the show TIME to find an audience in the first place, but then again, FOX is utterly notorious about that sort of thing, so it's hardly surprising.
